Grenadir March

3 tablesspoon oil

1 large onion

5 medium potatoes

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup water

Spatzel (nokerly) optional

Sauté onion till translucent 

Remove from heat and move to a plate

Chop the potatoes to 1/2" cubes

Place in the same pot used for sautéing the onions

Add water to cover the potatoes, add salt and pepper

Bring to boil and continue to simmer abut 10 minutes till potatoes are softer but not completely done.

Pour out the left over water.

Add the onions to the potatoes

Combine well but carefully not to break the potatoes as much as possible

Serve hot

Can be prepared hours before and heat up before serving.

If decided to add Nokerly add only several tablespoons, not to over shadow the potatoes
